My Son IS The Mascot.....

Proud Parents......Aren't We All???
As many parents...My husband and I like to go to as many school sporting activities as possible. We love supporting the kids and the school. (plus I like the concession stand food!)
Let me start out telling you that my husband and I have been "Happily" married, ok... Mostly Happily Married...... for 23 years.... Not happening much these days, huh??
Anyway, we have been married for a long time and we have been blessed with 3 beautiful but very different kids...
Tell me how can 3 kids, from the same mom and dad, be sooooo different???
( That's another whole blog topic..)
Our oldest is 19 the middle is 14 and the youngest is 9 ( 10 in 6 days!).
Back to the topic...... ( I do that, often, as I am an ADD Adult ) So try your best to keep up with me! HaHa...
The other night we were at one of the Varsity Basketball games at our son's school. (Both of our boys attend a Charter School.) My husband really gets into watching the game and I like to watch the game and talk.... Mostly talk.... But I do get in my share of yells....
I always pull a chair up to the bleachers, as my back will not last long at all sitting on them. I sit pretty close to my husband, not so he can talk to me, but so I can talk to him..... Anyway, I noticed he was talking with another parent who was sitting above him... I could hear some of what she was saying to him, but not all.. Every few plays they would comment to each other about what had just happened in the game. They would laugh and then they would holler...
This was during the Varsity Girls game.
Our Varsity Girls are really good... Especially for a Charter School so they are fun to watch.
After the girl's game was over I asked my husband who was the lady that he was talking to.....
Well if you have a husband you will be able to relate to me on his answer......
He said, "I don't know"...... Crap, I would have already known her name, where she worked, who she was married to, how many kids she had and what she had for dinner.....
Oh well.....
Once the Varsity Boys game started they started talking again... I heard my husband laugh and say, No I don't have a child on the team or a Cheerleader.....but........ that is my son, right there...
The one running around on the court making fun of the Refs and trying to get the crowd to get loud..... Yep, our son is not on the team, although he could be, he wanted to be the Mascot...
So on the nights of RMA's Varsity Home Basketball games our son is affectionately known as "JJ" the Jaguar....
If we hadn't told people that it was him nobody would have ever guessed because he is one of the last high school guys that you would think would do this..
I think it is great, not only because he is my son, but because he is a popular high schooler and since he is the Mascot and "A Cool Kid" now everybody wants to be the mascot...
It is not just for the Nerds anymore...
Oh yeah, did I mention that our 9 year old is the "little jj"? Yeah, they even got into an argument out on the court, one night, during the half time show.... Can you believe that?? Well if you have kids you will... The announcer just loved talking about them arguing with each other.... I just felt at home...
I just wanted to share a little about "The Allred Life" with you. I hope to be sharing more with you soon... Just gotta figure out which kid I want to Vent.... I mean talk about....
Loving being a parent,
Patti
